MY APPROACH TO COACHING

I truly believe your hopes, aspirations, and dreams can become your reality. You can be the exact person you want to be. You have, within yourself, everything you need for transformative change. Together, we will unleash this power. What may feel impossible, is possible. Others have made changes to improve their health, and there’s no reason this can’t be you. I believe this with every fiber of my being.
I want you to find joy in the process of transformational change. Yes, it will push you. Growth and change are never easy. But just because something is difficult doesn’t mean it can’t also be fun.
We will keep things simple. There is so much health information out there it’s overwhelming. Together we will find ways to simplify your change journey so that each step feels manageable, and not like another thing on your to-do list.
I promise to create a safe, empathetic, non-judgmental space for you to explore and grow. I will listen. I will be your biggest advocate. I will meet you where you’re at, whether you’ve tried making a health-related change, such as eating healthier, for the first or fiftieth time.
Pursuing your health goals is an adventure. It is a time to explore, try something new, get outside your comfort zone, push your limits, and journey into the unknown, but most of all, it is exciting. Adventure exists in everyday moments, not just in exotic travel or bungy jumping.
THE COACHING PROCESS
The first step in the coaching process is to define and get specific about the vision you have for yourself, for your health and beyond. Where do you want to be 1, 5, 10 years from now? What will having good health allow you to do? Travel the world? Play with your kids? Pursue a new business? This piece is to get you to think big, dream big. And if you’ve never thought about this, that’s ok! We will create your space of possibility.
The next step is to take the vision you’ve created and define what you’d like to accomplish while working together. Maybe you want to transition to a whole foods diet? Or start walking daily? Or eliminate gluten from your diet? These goals directly support your vision and will set you on a path to achieving the vision you have defined for yourself.
From there, we will break these goals down into small, manageable steps. These baby steps will incrementally pave the path towards your goals, and ultimately, your vision. In each session you will determine the goal(s) you’d like to work towards: the one(s) that feels most relevant and important to you.
I will never tell you what to do. Instead, we will work together, designing mini-experiments for you to test in between sessions. Maybe you try integrating vegetables into dinner? Or walking twice a week? Or around the block? Or eliminating gluten from breakfast on weekends? The key here is small, simple steps. You can’t accomplish the big changes you are seeking, without first pursuing the smallest of ones. It’s these baby steps, these efforts on a daily and weekly basis, which will lead to new habits that support the achievement of your goals and vision.
